A little love note.
Posted on 08:04 by gaurav kumar
Yesterday was exactly two months until our wedding (August 29th). I can't believe that in eight short weeks, Alex will be my husband. When I got home from my week-long trip yesterday afternoon, Alex had left me a bunch of yellow flowers, along with cute notes on the bed, coffee table and hung from deer antlers. It made me swoon.Audrey Hepburn once said, "If I get married, I want to be very married."
Alex, I can't wait to very-marry you.

My dears, what are you doing this weekend? I'm heading up to Seattle to visit my long-lost college friend Penny. It will be my first time in Washington state, and I'm so excited. In the meantime, here are a few great posts from around the web this week...Cute summer look.

Balloons for breakfast.
Yet another rad stash.
Bedroom swoon.
Wow. Nice shot, Mr. Sartorialist.
My first-date advice for a dude.
Yay! Chelsea started a Portland street-style blog.

Plus, shopping news:
Our favorite Portland boutique Frances May is having a summer sale.
Male New Yorkers, get thee to this pop-up men's shop.
And, randomly, I bought this American Apparel parka in navy blue and am obsessed with it. It's cute, lightweight and waterproof. Perfect for a rainy summer. I wanted to highly recommend for anyone who needs a rain jacket!

Great Gatsby Goodbye Party
Posted on 10:40 by gaurav kumar
Haley and Leslie live in Minnesota, in a big beautiful house built in the 1880s. Sadly, their landlord has decided to sell it.
"Since Saint Paul is the birthplace of F. Scott Fitzgerald (and it's rumored that he attended soirees at our house back in the day), we decided to throw a Great Gatsby-themed goodbye party," says Leslie. "It would be our last shindig."
Spaghetti Western String Co, a string quartet from Minneapolis, performed Radiohead's "Exit Music," with lyrics sung in Italian. "It gave us goose bumps," says Leslie.

Doesn't everyone look amazing? What a wonderful way to say goodbye to a house and celebrate the end of an era. (F. Scott Fitzgerald would have been proud.) Thank you so much for sharing, Leslie!(Photos by Cameron Wittig)

An AMAZING Indian wedding.

Cheap date idea: Get sweaty!
Genius wedding idea: Writing a note to your fiance right before walking down the aisle.
What's your bad habit?
Um, is every guy you know obsessed with dogs?
Mean cards are hilarious.
Which of these spring outfits would you wear on a date?
Poll: Do you prefer short or long lingerie?
Do or don't: Can you date a guy if you know he's not "the one"?
"My most awkward sexual experience..."
Would you engrave your wedding ring?
Last week, a reader revealed that she'd always been a lesbian but was falling for a guy. This week, she told her new boyfriend about her past. Here's his reaction!
As always, find much more on Smitten. Thank you! xo

Porsche speedster
Posted on 14:22 by gaurav kumar

I don't post about cars too often, but I swooned over Nick's Porsche 356 Speedster replica, built on a 1956 VW frame. The blue paint is gorgeous, and I love the car's graceful curves. And the best part? The fake 1962 Yale parking permit. Genius.(Via Lola, originally A Continuous Lean)

Style Inspiration: Elly
Posted on 10:45 by gaurav kumar

For New Year's, I made a resolution to dress like a French woman. It sort of worked, in that I bought a bunch of striped shirts :) Well, recently, I've found myself inspired by Elly's all-American style. She makes lots of her own clothes, and her look is totally comfy and adorable! How would you describe your personal style?
San Francisco
Posted on 07:40 by gaurav kumar
This week, I'm excited to be taking a last-minute trip to San Francisco to see my amazing twin sister Lucy. I'll be working during the days, but eating giant California burritos and hanging out with her at night. Yippee! See you soon, Lucy!P.S. I called a driver to pick me up at the airport and the dude kept saying "man," like "I'll see you then, man," and "Thanks for calling me, man!" Awesome. :)

Happy Father's Day
Posted on 13:30 by gaurav kumar
Happy Father's Day to my dad (far right). Whenever I think of hanging out with my dad, I think of hilarious moments. For example, when we went on family road trips, we kids would always have our noses buried in books, so whenever we'd drive by something beautiful, he'd simply yell, "View!" He also taught us the genius of big family lunches (with spicy soups) and adventurous bike rides. I love you. xoP.S. Is my dad's wavy hair not totally rad?
P.P.S. Is my uncle wearing a top hat?
P. P.P.S. Is my grandfather wearing Groucho Marx glasses? (If so, awesome. If not, even awesomer.)
Vacation fantasies
Posted on 09:30 by gaurav kumar
During this dreary weekend (what is with all this rain?), I've been parked on my sofa, drooling over the Mr. and Mrs. Smith website. Their hotels are ridiculously amazing. Ridiculous. (You can also create a honeymoon registry, which I think is brilliant.) My favorites...
Loving these lush gardens and sparkling pool in Provence.
How rad would it be to stroll up to this Paris hotel and its funny hats?
You could sip wine and watch the sunset at a 900-year-old castello in Tuscany...

...or make friends with elephants, take outdoor showers and drink cocktails under glowing trees at a South African resort.Where would you want to go? :)
